Welcome to Danube International School Vienna. Whether you are a family who has just arrived in Vienna, are considering a move, or have been part of our community for years, I am delighted to share a little of what makes DISV such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.

DISV was founded in 1992 with a clear purpose: to provide a genuinely international education in the heart of Europe. More than three decades on, that purpose is as strong as ever. We are proud to be Vienna's first IB World School and the only school in Austria to offer all three International Baccalaureate programmes — the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme — under one roof. This continuity of learning, from Early Years right through to Grade 12, gives our students a coherent, deeply supported journey through their education.

What strikes every visitor to DISV is the warmth of our community. With 502 students from 64 nationalities speaking 47 mother tongues, ours is one of the most diverse school communities in Vienna. And yet diversity is not something that happens despite us — it is something we actively celebrate. Our students learn alongside peers from every corner of the world, gaining the intercultural fluency and human empathy that the world needs most right now.

Our 5:1 student-to-staff ratio is something we are particularly proud of. It means that every child is genuinely known — their strengths, their passions, the areas where they need a little extra challenge or support. Our teachers are expert, caring professionals who are fully committed to each student's growth, in the classroom and beyond it.

At DISV, we believe that great education is not just about results — although our Class of 2025 achieved a 100% IB pass rate and a five-year average score of 34.5. It is about helping young people discover who they are, what they value, and how they want to contribute to the world. That is the work we do every day, and it is a privilege I do not take lightly.

I warmly invite you to visit our campus, meet our staff, and experience the spirit of DISV for yourself. We would love to welcome you.
