Early Years
Play-Based Inquiry Learning
Our Early Years programme welcomes children from age 3 into a joyful, language-rich environment where learning happens through play, exploration, and shared discovery. Rooted in the IB Primary Years Programme framework, Early Years at DISV celebrates the natural curiosity of young children and channels it into meaningful learning experiences.
Children engage with purposefully designed spaces — both indoors and outdoors — that invite them to investigate, create, and collaborate. Our teachers observe and listen carefully to each child, following their interests to build units of inquiry that feel relevant and exciting. Literacy and numeracy skills are woven naturally into play, giving children a solid foundation without sacrificing the joy that is essential at this age.
Language development is at the heart of Early Years. In our multilingual community, children hear and use English every day in a supportive, immersive environment, while their home languages are celebrated and respected.
A Safe and Nurturing Start
We understand that starting school is a big step — for children and families alike. Our Early Years team works closely with parents to ensure every child feels safe, seen, and welcomed from day one. Transition visits, stay-and-play sessions, and regular communication with families help children settle confidently into school life.
Small class sizes and a high ratio of adults to children mean that each child receives individual attention and care. Social and emotional development is given equal priority to academic learning, because we know that a confident, happy child is a ready learner.
